Eid Adhuha To Be Celebrated On 1st September 2017

The Director of Sharia, Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Shk. Yahaya Ibrahim Kakungulu has announced details regarding this year’s Eid Adhuha festivities.

During a Press Conference held today at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala, Shk. Kakungulu informed Muslims that today is the second day of the Islamic Month of Dhul Hijja.

The day of Arafat will therefore be observed on Thursday 31st August 2017 - the 9th day of Dhul Hijja.

“I am therefore glad to inform you that this year’s Eid Adhuha will be celebrated on Friday 1st September 2017” the Director of Sharia said.

The National Prayers will be held at the National Mosque – UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala starting at exactly 9:00 am, and they will be led by His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Shk. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.

The Khutubah (Sermon) will be delivered by Shk. Imran Ssali, the National Mosque Assistant Imam.

Sheikh Kakungulu urged Muslims to slaughter healthy animals during Eid Adhuha days in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail (A.S) commitments as stressed in the Holy Quran;

“Therefore to thy Lord turn in prayer and sacrifice” Quran 108:2. I also urge you to continue fasting the nine days prior to Eid Adhuha day.

He wished all Muslims peaceful and happy Eid El Adhuha celebrations.
