Nkuringo Gorilla Camp, is perched on the Nteko ridge overlooking a beautiful swath of the world renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
The ridge provides a superb vantage across the Kashasha river valley to the forested hill known as ‘Nkuringo’ and the surrounding plethora of trees of the Bwindi Forest. While the lodge has stunning views over Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the magnificent Virunga Volcanoes and the Great Albertine Rift Valley.
The deservedly popular Nkuringo is warm and welcoming, earning its names as Uganda's leading Safari Lodge at the World Travel Awards in 2016. The cosy dining room is built around a beautiful tree, its trunk a quirky feature amid wooden beams and flooring, raffia ceilings and terracotta-coloured walls.
The place exudes a rustic charm with a small bar and sofas around a stone fireplace and Ugandan fabrics and carvings adorning the walls.
There are 12 individually hand-crafted cottages, each offering the tranquillity of the rainforest, the atmosphere of a mountain chalet and the warm hospitality Ugandans are known for.
Nkuringo's 12 chalet-style rooms are dotted around its pretty gardens. The Virunga Terrace rooms are the smaller, lower budget option, unfussy but entirely comfortable. The Cottages have private verandas, dark-wood flooring, raffia ceilings, cane furniture and stone fireplaces for cold nights.
The elegant Villa is similarly designed with two bright and spacious bedrooms (they can be booked separately or interconnected) and private terraces overlooking Bwindi's dense rainforest. All rooms are en-suite and individually decorated with splashes of colour in fabrics and local artwork.
Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge prides itself on its green credentials and through its various initiatives including solar energy and rainwater harvesting proudly operates as a carbon neutral lodge.
