Every man is a potential prison inmate, also it is said. Inside the cells, you need to keep your spirits high, so as to make through the incarceration period.
These prisoners from Padong prison, in Agago district, northern Uganda, use songs and dance to keep hope alive. Despite the yellow uniform they are wearing, they have hopes of serving their sentences, and put on their own clothes again.
Using some traditional instruments like guitar, and other improvised instruments like basins and jerry cans, they try to keep themselves cheery and beaming with hope.
Despite the age differences, the inmates keep each other company; consoling and counseling each other, with hopes of walking out of detention one day.
The songs carry message of hope, a sign of rehabilitation and discovered new ambitions.
